School & College Engagement Employer Award

Giving back to the community is very important to us. We are also extremely passionate about helping young people take their first steps on the career ladder. We were therefore delighted to be shortlisted for the ‘School and College Engagement Employer Award at the Oxfordshire Apprentice Awards’ for the second year running, demonstrating the ongoing commitment and support that the team give to local schools and colleges.

The School Engagement Employer Award recognises organisations that have exceeded normal standards and expectations in engaging with local schools and colleges to inspire the next generation.

Why were The Burford Recruitment Company shortlisted?

Over the last year, in their role as Enterprise Advisors and careers advisors with Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP Skills) Jodie, Andy and Chris have:

  • Engaged with students from various schools through various initiatives including ‘mock interviews’ and ‘careers detective’.
  • Provided free CV advice and writing services to students approaching graduation including multiple presentations and workshops.
  • Introduced careers leaders to businesses around Oxfordshire through networking.
  • Ensured all students throughout Oxfordshire have access to free job seeker resources through the ‘Find your Future‘ platform.
  • Worked with Abingdon & Witney College to assist with the roll out of the Digital and Management & Administration T-Levels.
  • Provided two young people with six months valuable office experience through the governments Kickstarter Scheme.
  • Launched a Graduate Recruitment Scheme to help connect graduates with Oxfordshire businesses offering internships and graduate placements.

How did we do?

After being ‘Highly Commended’ by the judges in 2021,  we again received a ‘Highly Commended’ award for 2022. The organisers commenting that “The Burford Recruitment Company is a small business with a big heart and huge commitment to education-business links”
