Domestic Couple / Private Household
Live-In Domestic Couple Duration: Permanent Hours: Full Time Live-in
- Location: Near Broadway, Worcestershire
- Salary: Circa £65,000 pa + combined, depending on experience
- Hours: Full-time, including weekend working and with flexibility around the needs of the household
- Accommodation: Fully furnished private one-bedroom flat with separate entrance. All utilities and household expenses included, including council tax and Wi-Fi.
- Start Date: As soon as possible
- Other: Full UK driving licence(s) required. Pets considered.
We are seeking an experienced, discreet and versatile Live-In Domestic Couple to support a private household at their beautiful Cotswolds property near Broadway.
The successful couple will work closely together to ensure the smooth day-to-day running, presentation, maintenance and security of the property. The roles will naturally divide between housekeeping and guest service and property maintenance, grounds and security, whilst both individuals should be happy to support one another and assist with the wider needs of the household when required.
This is a hands-on position suited to an experienced couple who take genuine pride in their work and are comfortable working independently within a private household. Discretion, trustworthiness, flexibility and a proactive approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping & Guest Service
- Maintain the main residence, guest accommodation and associated areas to an exceptional standard
- Undertake hands-on housekeeping, including cleaning, tidying, laundry, ironing and general household duties
- Prepare bedrooms, including changing linen and providing turn-down service when required
- Prepare the property for the principals and their guests, ensuring bedrooms and entertaining spaces are beautifully presented
- Greet and assist guests, providing discreet and attentive service throughout their stay
- Assist with dinner parties and entertaining, including setting tables, arranging flowers, serving drinks and food, and clearing away
- Prepare simple meals for smaller gatherings and assist the chef when required
- Pack and unpack luggage and organise deliveries
- Monitor household, cleaning and laundry supplies and arrange replenishment as required
- Manage household shopping, errands and petty cash
- Care for household plants and maintain the presentation of terraces and outdoor entertaining areas
- Report any maintenance issues, repairs or replacements required within the property
Maintenance, Grounds & Security
- Carry out general DIY and practical household maintenance
- Maintain the gardens and grounds, including mowing, hedge trimming and general upkeep
- Maintain the swimming pool and surrounding area
- Wash and maintain vehicles as required
- Liaise with and supervise contractors, tradespeople and other suppliers while on site
- Assist with and oversee refurbishment and maintenance projects as required
- Identify maintenance requirements and ensure works are followed up and completed to the required standard
- Maintain the security of the house and wider estate and undertake key-holder duties
- House sit and ensure the property remains secure and well maintained when the principals are away
- Receive deliveries and provide access to contractors and suppliers as required
- Drive for the household when requested
Shared Responsibilities
- Care for and walk the household dogs, including attending veterinary appointments when required
- Support one another with household duties and the wider running of the property
- Assist with entertaining, events and guest stays as required
- Liaise professionally with household staff, contractors and suppliers
- Ensure the property is fully prepared ahead of the principals’ arrival and maintained to an exceptional standard throughout their stay
- Anticipate the needs of the household and deal with matters proactively and discreetly
- Undertake other reasonable duties as required to support the smooth running of the household
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working as a domestic couple within a private household, estate or high-end hospitality environment
- Strong housekeeping experience alongside practical maintenance, gardening or estate management skills
- A discreet, trustworthy and hands-on approach, with the ability to work independently
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining a property to a high standard
- Flexible and willing to support one another across the household as required
- A genuine love of animals, particularly dogs
- Full UK driving licence(s)
- A stable employment history and longevity in previous roles is important
