Housekeeper / Companion (Live-in or Live-out) Duration: Permanent Hours: Full Time Hours: Part Time Live-in Live-Out

- Accommodation: Separate one-bedroom cottage available for the live-in option
We are looking for a warm, cheerful and dependable Housekeeper / Companion to support an elderly lady in her much-loved four-bedroom home in Burford.
Bright and engaging, she enjoys good conversation and would welcome someone who brings a friendly presence to her day while helping keep her home comfortable, tidy and running smoothly. Her family visit regularly, including at weekends.
This is a lovely opportunity for someone who enjoys traditional housekeeping, takes pleasure in the little things and has a naturally caring approach.
The role
- General housekeeping, cleaning and keeping floors tidy.
- Making the bed and keeping the bedroom comfortable.
- Managing a modest amount of laundry and ironing.
- Unloading the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen organised.
- Preparing simple meals
- Helping with everyday routines, including drawing the curtains, lighting the fire
- Offering friendly company and a reassuring presence.
About you
You will be calm, kind and cheerful, with a practical approach and an eye for what needs doing. You should be comfortable with the physical aspects of housekeeping and carrying logs and enjoy spending time with an older person while respecting her independence. Previous experience in a private household or a similar housekeeping and companionship role would be welcome.
Additional Information
The family is open to either:
- Part-time live-out: Two or three visits per week, approximately four to five hours per visit.
- Live-in: Working five days per week, with a separate one-bedroom cottage in the garden.
Morning support is particularly useful, ideally covering 9am–12pm, with the full hours and schedule to be agreed.
The cottage has its own side entrance, a sitting room and bathroom, offering a private space away from the main house. Having someone living nearby would also give the family welcome reassurance; any availability outside working hours would be discussed and agreed in advance.
